In Book Taco, your class library is built around Book Lists — curated collections that you create and fill with titles your students will read. You can search the catalog by title, author, or series, browse hand-picked recommendations in the Top 100, or add a book manually if it isn't in the catalog yet.
Step 1: Go to Manage Books
- From your Teacher Dashboard, click Manage Books in the left sidebar.
- The page opens on the Book Search tab. You'll also see tabs for Book Lists, Top 100, and shortcuts to create quizzes and word lists.
Step 2: Create a Book List
- Click the Book Lists tab, then click Create a Book List.
- Give your list a name — for example, Summer Reading or Grade 4 Fiction.
- The list is created and ready to receive books. You can create as many lists as you need and manage them all from this tab.
Before you search: Book Taco adds books to whichever list is currently selected. Create your list first so it's available to select in the next step.
Step 3: Search for books and add them to your list
- Go to the Book Search tab.
- In the Current Book List dropdown on the right, select the list you just created.
- Type a title, author name, or series name in the search box and press Enter or click Search.
- Use the filters to narrow results:
- Page length — Under 69 pages or Over 69 pages
- Category — Fiction or Nonfiction
- Quiz Only — show only books that already have a quiz available
- Click a book in the results to add it to the selected list. Each book card shows whether it has a quiz and vocabulary list available.
Pro Tip: Open the Top 100 tab for curated reading recommendations organized by grade level — Cool (K–3), Spark (3–6), and Fire (5–8+). You can also filter by Student Picks, Teacher Picks, or New Releases, and add any title directly to your list from there.
Q: Can I have more than one book list? A: Yes. There is no limit on the number of book lists you can create. You can maintain separate lists for different classes, reading levels, genres, or units — and students can be assigned to whichever list fits their reading program.
