How to Complete a Graphic Organizer in Book Taco

Graphic Organizers are structured activities that help you organize your thinking about a book. Each module focuses on a different way to analyze what you read — mapping the story, comparing ideas, summarizing nonfiction, or drawing a scene. Your teacher chooses which modules are available for each book.

Available modules include: Story Map, Compare and Contrast, 3-2-1 Nonfiction Fun, Nonfiction Book Report, and Draw It.

Step 1: Open Graphic Organizers

Open your book’s activity page and click Graphic Organizers.

The page shows all the modules your teacher has enabled and a progress bar showing how many you have completed so far.

Step 2: Choose a Module

Click any module card to open it. Each card shows the module name and your current status — Not Taken, waiting for review, or your grade if it has already been approved.

  • Story Map — identify the characters, setting, and the beginning, middle, and end of the story.
  • Compare and Contrast — compare two characters, settings, or ideas from the book.
  • 3-2-1 Nonfiction Fun — write 3 things you learned, 2 interesting facts, and 1 question you still have.
  • Nonfiction Book Report — summarize the main topics and key information from a nonfiction book.
  • Draw It — draw a scene or idea from the book and add a note to describe it.

Step 3: Complete and Submit

Some modules open directly on the page with a form to fill in. Others open in a full-screen view when you click Start Activity. Either way, fill in all the fields and click Submit when you are done.

The right side of the page shows your current grade, the passing score, and the game coin reward for completing the activity.

Step 4: Check Your Status

After submitting, the module shows one of three statuses:

  • Under Review — Your work has been sent to your teacher. You can view it but not edit it.
  • Approved — Your activity has been approved. Your grade and any teacher feedback appear on the page.
  • Redo — Your teacher wants you to try again. Read the teacher’s notes and click Start Activity to redo the module.
