A: The Book Taco Library organizes its books into three tiers — Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3. When a level is selected, the library filters the catalog to show only books from that tier, so students spend less time searching and more time reading books that match where they are.
The levels are specific to the Book Taco Library and are separate from the reading levels used elsewhere in Book Taco.
Choosing a level for the first time
The first time a student opens the Book Taco Library, a screen appears with the prompt Choose a reading level. Three cards are shown — one for each level. The student clicks the one that feels right, and the library opens filtered to that choice. This screen only appears once; on future visits, students go straight to the library.
Changing your level
Students can switch levels at any time by clicking the Level button in the toolbar at the top of the library page. The level selection screen reopens and the new choice takes effect immediately. There is no wrong choice — if a book feels too easy or too challenging, adjusting the level takes just a few seconds.
For teachers
In the teacher catalog at Teacher Panel → Book Taco Library → View All Books, you can filter by level to preview which titles are available at each tier. Use this to build level-specific reading lists or to find the right book before recommending it to an individual student.
