Q: Why Can't My Students See Book Taco Library Books?

A: There are several reasons why Library books might not be visible to your students. Check through this troubleshooting list to find the issue:

Issue 1: Book Taco Library is not activated

How to check: Look at your Teacher Panel dashboard. If the Book Taco Library widget says "Preview" (instead of "Open"), Library is not yet activated.

How to fix: Go to your Teacher Panel and open the Book Taco Library card. You can either:

  • Start a free 14-day trial (click "Start Library trial")
  • Purchase Library from your Membership page ($1.50 per student)

Once activated, your students will immediately be able to see Library books.

Issue 2: Your Library trial has expired

How to check: If you started a trial, it lasted 14 days. If it's been more than two weeks, your trial access has ended.

How to fix: Go to your Membership page and add Book Taco Library to your subscription to restore access.

Issue 3: You are a linked teacher and your Super User hasn't activated Library

How to check: If your account is linked to a Super User, you cannot activate Library on your own. Your dashboard will show a message: "Book Taco Library is managed by your school."

How to fix: Contact your Super User and ask them to activate Book Taco Library for your school. Once they do, Library will automatically become available to you and your students.

Issue 4: Library is blocked by day of the week

How to check: Your Super User may have set Library to only be available on certain days (e.g., Weekdays Only, Fridays and Weekends). If students try to access Library on a blocked day, they'll see a message like: "Your teacher has enabled Book Taco Library access on weekdays only."

How to fix: If you're a Super User, go to Customize Program and change the Book Taco Library Availability setting to "Always Available" (or your preferred schedule). If you're a linked teacher, contact your Super User to adjust the schedule.

Issue 5: Certain reading levels are blocked

How to check: Your Super User may have blocked specific reading levels (Level 1, 2, or 3) for your school. If a level is blocked, books at that level won't appear in the catalog or in student Manage Books.

How to fix: If you're a Super User, go to Customize Program and check the Book Taco Library level restrictions. If you're a linked teacher, contact your Super User and ask them to unblock the reading levels you need.
