How Students Can Earn Coins in Book Taco

What Are Game Coins? 

Each activity in Book Taco shows you how many coins you will earn before you start. You can see your current coin balance at the top of the Games page. Coins are spent one at a time each time you open a game to play.

Step 1: Pass the Book Quiz

When you pass the quiz for a book, you receive game coins as a reward. A congratulations message will appear on screen showing how many coins you earned.

Coins are awarded the first time you pass the quiz for a book. Retaking a quiz you have already passed will not earn coins again.

Step 2: Complete Word List and Graphic Organizer Activities

Completing vocabulary modules, spelling modules, and graphic organizer activities also earns you coins. You will see the coin reward displayed on the activity screen before you begin.

Each activity rewards coins only the first time you complete it for a given book. Completing the same activity again will not earn additional coins.

Step 3: Use Your Coins to Play Games

Once you have coins, go to the Games section in the sidebar. Select a game and a confirmation screen will show how many coins that game costs. Click Yes to spend the coins and start playing.

The Games section is organized into:

• Regular games — always available
• Bonus games — special featured games
• Holiday games — seasonal games available for a limited time

Some games have a class Leaderboard that tracks your score and time alongside your classmates.

Your teacher may set a daily limit on how many games you can play, or restrict games to certain days of the week. If games are unavailable, a message will explain why.

 Running Out of Coins 

If you have zero coins, you will not be able to open a game. The Games page will show a message reminding you to complete book activities to earn more coins before playing.
