How Students Can Complete a Writing Prompt in Book Taco

Created by Ace Turner, Modified on Mon, 11 May at 10:00 PM by Ace Turner

The Writing Prompt activity asks you to write one or two paragraphs about a topic related to your book. Your teacher will read your response and send feedback.

Step 1: Open Writing Prompt

Open your book's activity page and click Writing Prompt.

Step 2: Choose a Prompt

A list of writing prompts appears on the screen. Use the All, Fiction, and Nonfiction filter buttons to narrow the list if needed.

Read the prompts and click Use this prompt on the one you want to answer.

Step 3: Write and Submit

A window opens with the prompt at the top and a text area below it. Type your response — you have up to 1,000 characters.

When you are done, click Submit. A confirmation message appears and your response is sent to your teacher.

If you click Cancel, Book Taco will ask you to confirm before closing the window. Any text you have written will be lost if you leave.

Step 4: Check Your Status

After submitting, the page shows one of three statuses:

  • Submitted — Your response is waiting for your teacher to review it. You can read your text but not edit it.
  • Redo — Your teacher wants you to revise your response. Any notes from your teacher appear on the page. Edit your text and click Submit again.
  • Approved — Your response has been approved. Your grade appears on the page along with any comments from your teacher.
Click View Attempts to see the history of all your previous submissions for this prompt.
