A: A Super User account is a top-level administrator account in Book Taco. Instead of managing a single classroom, a Super User oversees multiple teacher accounts — along with their students, seats, reports, and program settings — all from one central dashboard. It is designed for school coordinators, reading coaches, department heads, or anyone responsible for a Book Taco program that spans more than one classroom.
What a Super User Can Do
From the Super User panel at /superuser, an administrator has access to the following sections:
- Manage Teachers — View, link, and unlink teacher accounts. Spot overages when enrollment exceeds purchased seats.
- Manage Students — Browse all students across every linked teacher. Flag students enrolled in more than one classroom.
- Move Students — Reassign students from one teacher to another without deleting their data.
- Resource Teachers — Manage resource or specialist teacher accounts tied to the program.
- Manage Grades — Review and edit reading logs, quiz results, and activity grades across all teachers.
- Manage Books — Add books, browse the Top 100, and manage book lists for the whole program.
- Shelf Control — Block specific books from appearing for students.
- Contests — Create and monitor reading contests; pick winners when a contest closes.
- Reports — View program-wide reading reports covering all teachers and students.
- Printables — Access downloadable resources shared with teachers.
- Customize Program — Set quiz requirements, passing scores, and other program-wide settings.
- Membership & Subscription — Purchase seats, upgrade the plan, and view billing history.
Super User vs. Teacher Account
A regular teacher account manages one classroom. A Super User account sits above all linked teacher accounts and can act across all of them at once — setting program rules, pulling cross-class reports, and managing the subscription for the entire group.
Super Viewers: Read-Only Observers
A Super User can create Super Viewer accounts for people who need to see the data without making any changes. A Super Viewer can browse reports, teachers, and students, but cannot edit records or perform any administrative actions. Super Viewers are managed from Super User → Super Viewers.
The Dashboard at a Glance
When a Super User logs in, the dashboard shows four summary tiles:
- Subscription — Current plan name and expiration status, with quick links to Membership and Billing.
- Capacity — A progress bar showing how many students are enrolled against the total purchased seats.
- Contest — The most recent contest and its status, with a link to the contest monitor.
- From Book Taco — The latest news post from the Book Taco team.
An attention inbox at the top of the dashboard surfaces items that need action — such as writing prompts or graphic organizers waiting to be graded, closed contests ready for winner selection, duplicate student enrollments, or a seat overage.
