A: There are several reasons why the Start Quiz button may be unavailable or why an error message appears when you try to take a quiz. Each situation has a different cause and a different solution.
Quizzes are not allowed today
- Your teacher controls which days of the week quizzes are available.
- If today is not an allowed day, you will see a message on the quiz page explaining when you can try again.
- The Allowed Days field on the quiz page shows the days your teacher has enabled.
You have used all your tries
- Your teacher sets a maximum number of quiz attempts. Once you reach that limit without passing, you cannot start the quiz on your own.
- Check the Allowed Tries and Your Tries fields on the quiz page to confirm.
- Ask your teacher to unlock an extra attempt using their Override PIN.
You already passed this quiz
- Once you pass, the Start Quiz button is replaced with a success message and a locked Retake Quiz button.
- Retaking a passed quiz requires your teacher's 4-character Override PIN. Ask your teacher to enter it if you want to try again.
You are not at school
- If your teacher has enabled the In-School Only setting, quizzes can only be taken from your school's network.
- You will see the message: “Your teacher only allows Book Quizzes to be taken at school.”
- You can still read books from anywhere — only the quiz is restricted to the school network.
This book does not have a quiz
- Not every book in Book Taco has a quiz. If no quiz exists for the book you are reading, the quiz option will not be available.
No quiz in your language
- Book Taco offers quizzes in English and Spanish. If neither language is enabled for your account, you will see the message: “No quiz available in your selected language.”
- Contact your teacher if you believe a language should be enabled for your class.
