Q: What is the Difference Between Individual and Classroom Contests?

A: The difference is in who needs to reach the goal.

In an Individual Effort contest, each student competes on their own. Every student must reach the goal independently — for example, pass 10 quizzes or log 200 reading minutes during the contest period. On the contest details page, students only see their own personal progress bar.

In a Classroom Effort contest, the entire class works together as a team. Each student's activity contributes to a shared total, and the goal is the collective target the class must reach together. Students see both their personal progress and a Class Collective Progress bar showing the team's combined total, along with their classmates' avatars.

For both types, only activity completed within the contest's start and end dates counts. You can also restrict which books earn credit by linking a custom book list — otherwise, any book in Book Taco qualifies.
