A: Yes. Book Taco lets you grant a student one extra quiz attempt using your Override PIN — a 1–4 character code you set in your account settings.
There are two situations where an extra attempt may be needed: a student who has used all their allowed tries without passing, and a student who already passed but needs to retake the quiz.
1) Student used all their allowed tries
When a student tries to start a quiz after reaching the attempt limit, a prompt appears asking if they want to request an additional attempt. If they confirm, a code field opens. The student enters your Override PIN, and if the code matches, the quiz opens immediately for one more try.
2) Student already passed the quiz
If a student has already passed and needs to retake, a Retake Quiz button is visible on the quiz page alongside an Override PIN prompt. You enter the PIN directly on the student's screen to unlock the retake.
How to set your Override PIN
- In the sidebar, go to My Account.
- Find the Quiz Override Pin Code field (maximum 4 letters or numbers).
- Enter your PIN and save the form.
Changing the number of allowed tries for everyone
If you regularly need to give more attempts, consider increasing the Quiz Allowed Tries setting in Customize Program instead of using the Override PIN each time. This applies the new limit to all students (or to a specific group if configured in Student Groups).
