Q: What do the Quiz Settings mean? Mild, Medium, and Hot Sauce

Created by Ace Turner, Modified on Tue, 12 May at 1:13 PM by Ace Turner

A: The Mild, Medium, and Hot Sauce settings control how strictly a quiz is required for a book to count as completed. You set this in Customize Program under the quiz program options. The setting determines when students earn word count and page count for a book.

 ❄️ Mild Sauce

Students can complete a Final Review at any time, with or without a quiz. A quiz is never required, even if one is available for the book. Word count and page count are earned once the Final Review is completed.

Best for: classrooms where the focus is on reading volume and reflection rather than quiz performance.

 ✨ Medium Sauce

If a quiz is available for a book, students must take and pass it to earn word count and page count. If no quiz is available, students can still complete the Final Review and the book will be marked as Read.

Best for: classrooms that want accountability when a quiz exists, but still allow credit for books without quizzes.

 ? Hot Sauce

A quiz is always required for a book to count as Read. Students must take and pass the quiz to earn word count and page count. If a book does not have a quiz, it will not count toward word count or page totals.

Best for: classrooms where reading accountability is the top priority and only verified reads should count.

 Where to find this setting

Go to Customize Program in the sidebar. The quiz program selector appears under the quiz settings section. Select the option that best matches your classroom goals and click Save.

The minimum passing grade (10%–100%) is set separately and applies to all three quiz programs. A student must meet that score threshold to count a quiz as passed.
