Yes — a student can be enrolled with more than one teacher in Book Taco. Use the guidance below to choose the best setup for your school when more than one teacher needs access to the same students.
Can a student be in multiple classes?
Yes. In Book Taco, a student can be assigned to more than one teacher. Each teacher will see that student in their class list and can access the student's progress and reports for their own classroom.
A student keeps one Book Taco username and password. Being in multiple classes does not create duplicate student accounts.
When to enroll a student with multiple teachers
Enrolling the same student under two (or more) teacher accounts makes sense when both teachers need to manage the student — for example, assigning work, tracking activity, or managing grades as part of their own class.
- Both teachers need full classroom access to the same students
- Each teacher should manage the student as part of their own class
Only use shared enrollment when both teachers need full management access. If the second teacher only needs to view reports, use a Resource Teacher account instead.
When to use a Resource Teacher
If a second teacher only needs to view reports — and does not need to manage the classroom — we recommend a Resource Teacher account instead of adding the student to another teacher's class.
With this setup:
- Students stay enrolled with their primary teacher
- The second teacher gets report access through a Resource Teacher profile
- Classroom management stays with the teacher who owns the class
- The Resource Teacher can view selected students and reports across multiple classrooms
Resource Teacher is the recommended option for specialists, coaches, and other staff who need visibility across multiple classrooms without full classroom management.
How to add a Resource Teacher
A Super User creates and manages Resource Teacher accounts.
- Log in as a Super User.
- Go to Resource Teachers.
- Click Add New Resource Teacher.
- Enter the Resource Teacher's name, email, and password.
- Select the teachers, students, and reports they should be able to access.
- Save the account.
The Resource Teacher can then log in and view the assigned students and reports.
What Resource Teachers can access
Resource Teachers can be granted access to:
- Selected teachers' classrooms
- Selected students within those classrooms
- Selected report types
They do not replace the classroom teacher. Teachers continue to manage their own classes as usual.
