Reports give you a comprehensive view of your students' reading activity, quiz performance, word count, badges, and more. You can filter data by student, group, date range, or category to track progress and identify trends in your classroom.
Step 1: Go to Reports
- From your Teacher Dashboard, click Reports in the left sidebar.
- The Reports hub appears showing all available report types as cards organized by category (Reading, Quizzes, Writing, Engagement, Rewards).
- Each card shows an icon and the report name. Disabled reports show a "Coming soon" label.
Step 2: Choose a report type
- Click any report card to open that report.
- Common reports include:
- Summary — Overview of quizzes passed, activity points, word count, reading time, and total students.
- Reading Log — Detailed log of student reading sessions (Stopwatch, Input, or Library readings).
- Quiz — Quiz performance data, pass rates, and scores by student.
- Word Count — Total words read by each student, useful for monitoring reading volume.
- Writing Prompts — Student responses to writing prompts and assignment completion.
- Badges — Badge achievements earned by students (requires feature to be enabled).
- Coins — Game coins earned and spent by students.
- Graphic Organizers — Responses to graphic organizer assignments.
Step 3: Apply filters
- At the top of the report page, you'll see filter options.
- Use the following filters to narrow down data:
- Period — Select the school year or reporting period if available.
- Date Range — Click the date picker to select start and end dates for the data you want to view.
- Filter Mode — Choose to view data By Students or By Groups (only appears if you have created groups).
- Select Group — If filtering by groups, choose a specific group to see only that group's data.
- Student(s) — Select one or more students to see individual or comparative data. Leave blank to include all students.
- Category — Some reports let you filter by Fiction or Nonfiction books.
- Grade — Filter by student grade level.
- After selecting your filters, click the Filter button to apply them.
- Use the Skip to Results button to jump directly to the data table below the filter panel.
Step 4: View and interpret data
- After applying filters, the report displays summary cardsat the top showing key metrics:
- Cards may show totals like Quizzes Passed, Activity Points, Reading Time, Words Read, or Books Finished.
- Each card is color-coded with an icon to represent the metric.
- Below the cards is a detailed data table showing individual student or group results.
- Columns vary by report type but typically include student name, metric values, dates, and status.
- Scroll horizontally to see all available columns.
- Some reports allow you to sort or search the table using the controls above the data.
Report types overview
Summary Report: Best for a quick overview of class-wide performance across multiple metrics. Helps identify top performers and track progress toward reading goals.
Reading Log Report: Tracks when and how long students read. Filter by reading type (Stopwatch, Input, Library) to see which reading methods students use most.
Quiz Report: Shows which students have passed quizzes, how many attempts they needed, and their scores. Useful for assessing comprehension and identifying students who need support.
Word Count Report: Displays total words read per student. Useful for monitoring reading volume and setting class-wide word count goals.
Writing Prompts Report: See responses to writing prompts you've assigned. Use this to review student writing and give feedback (you can also grade from here).
Badges Report: Shows which badges students have earned (Reading Time, Books Read, Album Pages, or Reader Rewards). Helps celebrate milestones and encourage engagement.
Coins Report: Tracks game coins earned through quizzes and activities. Shows coin balances so you can monitor game engagement.
Graphic Organizers Report: Displays student responses to graphic organizer assignments. Grade them directly from this report.
Use groups to organize viewing. If you've created Student Groups to separate classes, you can quickly filter each group's data without selecting individual students. Just switch to "By Groups" mode.
Combine filters for deeper insights. Use date range + student selection to see how a specific student performed during a unit or time period. Use category filters to compare fiction vs. nonfiction reading behavior.
Q: Can I export this data? A: Some reports support download or export features. Look for a download button or menu option on the report page.
Q: How often are reports updated? A: Reports update in real-time as students log reading, take quizzes, and earn badges. You'll always see the most current data.
Q: Can I view historical data from previous years? A: Yes, if your school configures multiple reporting periods or school years, you can select them from the Period filter. Contact your administrator if you need access to prior years' data.
