How to View Your Students' Reading Activity

Book Taco's Reports hub gives you a dedicated report for every area of student activity — from time logged reading and quizzes passed to word count, badges, and more. Here's how to find and use them.

Step 1: Open the Reports hub

In your Teacher Panel, click Reports in the sidebar. You'll see a grid of report tiles, each covering a different area of student activity.

Step 2: Choose a report

Click the tile for the data you want to review. The available reports are:

  • Summary — a full class overview combining quizzes passed, activity points, word count, pages, final reviews, vocabulary & spelling, writing prompts, and graphic organizers for every student in a single table.
  • Reading Log — individual reading sessions showing time logged (stopwatch or manual input), pages read, and the book title for each entry.
  • Quiz Interactions — every quiz attempt with grade, pass/fail result, and per-student averages.
  • Activity Points — points accumulated across reading activities.
  • Word Count — total words read per student.
  • Final Book Review — completed final reviews per book.
  • Writing Prompts — writing prompt submissions.
  • Graphic Organizers — completed graphic organizer activities.
  • Book List Tracker — progress against a specific custom book list.
  • Badges — badges earned by each student.
  • Game Coins — coins awarded over time.
  • User Activity — student logins, pageviews, and most active students.
Start with the Summary report for a quick class-wide snapshot. Open a more specific report when you need to drill into one area.

Step 3: Apply filters

Every report includes a filter bar at the top. Common options across reports are:

  • Date range — narrow results to a specific period.
  • Student(s) — select one or more students, or leave blank to include the whole class.
  • Filter mode / Group — if you have student groups set up, switch between filtering by individual student or by group.

Some reports include additional filters specific to their data — for example, the Reading Log lets you filter by Reading Type (Stopwatch or Input), and the Summary report lets you filter by Category (fiction or nonfiction) and Grade.

Step 4: Review results

After applying your filters, the page updates with summary cards showing totals at a glance, charts for visual trends, and a detailed table with per-student or per-session data. Scroll down or click Skip to Results to jump directly to the table.

The Summary report totals are based on passed quizzes or completed final reviews only. The Reading Log is not included in those totals, as students can enter time manually without validation.
