How Do Families Get Access to Book Taco Family?

Families can’t sign up for Book Taco Family on their own. A parent or guardian gets access when their child’s teacher sends an invitation. Family accounts are free.

How teachers invite families

  • In your teacher account, open Students in the left sidebar.
  • To invite one family, click Actions next to the student and choose Invite Parent, then enter the parent’s email address.
  • To invite every family at once, click Invite All Families in the banner above your class list.
  • To give families a printed copy instead, click Parent Letter. The letter includes a QR code.
  • Follow each invitation in the Parents tab. From there you can Resend an invitation, Revoke one that is still pending, or Remove a parent who already accepted.

How families accept the invitation

  • The parent opens the invitation email, or scans the QR code on the Parent Letter.
  • On the invitation page, they enter their name and create a password of at least 6 characters.
  • If the parent already has a Book Taco Family account, they enter the password for that account and the new child is added to it.
  • After that, the parent logs in at /parent/login.

Good to know

  • One family account can follow several children, even when they have different teachers.
  • Book Taco Family is already available to every Book Taco teacher, so there is nothing to turn on.
  • You don’t need Book Taco Library to use Book Taco Family.
If a parent sees “Invitation Not Found” or “Invitation No Longer Available”: The invitation was revoked or already used. Ask the teacher to send a new one from the Parents tab.
