How to Manage Book Taco Library Access for Linked Teachers

As a Super User, when you activate Book Taco Library, it becomes available to all your linked teachers automatically. Here's how to control and manage Library access across your school.

Step 1: Understand how linked teachers inherit Library access

When you activate Book Taco Library from your Super User account, all linked teachers automatically gain access — they do not need to purchase, activate, or start a trial on their own. Teachers linked to your account inherit your Library decision, whether it's active or inactive.

This means:

  • Linked teachers cannot individually purchase or activate Library
  • Linked teachers cannot start their own 14-day trial
  • Linked teachers will see a message saying Library is managed by your school if they try to activate it themselves
  • Linked teachers can immediately browse the catalog and create curated lists once you activate

Step 2: Activate or deactivate Library for your entire school

To control whether your teachers have access to Library:

  • Go to your Super User account and visit your Membership page
  • Choose to either start a 14-day free trial or purchase Book Taco Library ($1.50 per student)
  • Once activated, all linked teachers and their students immediately gain access to the Library catalog

Step 3: Block reading levels if needed

If you want to restrict which reading levels are available school-wide:

  • Open the Book Taco Library catalog from your Super User dashboard
  • Navigate to the Library Settings or Access Controls area
  • Find the Block Levels section
  • Select which reading levels (Level 1, 2, or 3) you want to block for your entire school
  • Save your changes

When a level is blocked:

  • Books at that level will not appear in the Library catalog for any teacher or student
  • Teachers cannot assign blocked books to students
  • Students cannot access blocked levels, even if a teacher tries to override

Step 4: Guide teachers on how to use Library

Once Library is active, help your linked teachers get started. Share the article "How to Browse and Preview Book Taco Library Books" so they learn how to search and filter the catalog.
